Can anyone please help?

This would be funny if I hadn't just put in new curtains! (Laughing out loud)

My dear little budgie has taken a fancy to my new curtains and wants to nibble them.

He's pulled a few threads which aren't too noticeable but I'd like to nip it in the bud (or beak!) if I can.

I drew 2 big black eyes on a sheet of paper, but it only stopped him for a short while.

Anyone have any suggestions please, I'd be most grateful:)

Thank you,

~ Judy :ygbudgie:

I have curtains that have little holes in them. I have never had any luck with stopping them from 'attacking' the curtain.. may be someone might have suggestion that works.

My guys have recently taken to chewing our wooden blinds, GRRRR!! All i can do at the moment is patiently stand up and get them to step up each time they land on the blinds, then i put them on their gym. It's extremely frustrating, but after a while they lose interest if i won't let them chew and they don't fly over to them so much.

Use this only if you don't plan of giving them a bath with a squirt bottle because it works wonders. Pretty never liked to be misted with a squirt bottle so I used this method to get him off my curtain rods and stop any naughty behavior. When you see him doing it squirt him and say no (don't scream it of course)...only do this again if you don't plan on using this as a bathing method or for fun. :D

Thanks for your help, Elly, and a great suggestion.

As I don't have a spare spray bottle (yet) I've been getting a bit desperate.

So this morning I twisted the curtains around. They have a white lining and Arny doesn't like it and hasn't touched them since. I dont think it's the colour putting him off, but the material of the lining which is a rubbery feeling.

Cheeta, if you have lining on yours maybe you could try that too. I'm only planning on turning them around when Arny is out of his cage.

If this doesn't last then I'll definitely go for the spray bottle.

Can imagine your frustration Bea as they see it as a great game. Everytime I chased Arny away or got him to step up, he came back. He was thoroughly enjoying himself

I can't turn my curtians around. I got a cheap spray bottle from the drug store or dollar store . I didn't use anything that had cleaners or chemicals in it.

though I bet instead of turning them around if you can't laying towel on them would help too

Thanks Elly I'll go browse those cheap shops.

I'm kind of hoping it might be a last resort as I'd like to try the spray bottle on him as a game during the summer. It sounds fun.

Yes, I will have to hang a towel on the top as the curtain won't twist all the way. I just hope my idea isn't just temporary!

 Try the spray water method and hope it works. You can also get bird sprays that are geared to stop plucking as they are so bitter but I don't know what would happen to the fabric. :greenb:

If for punishments you use it on jet, and baths on mist, you may find you can use a squirter for both purposes...

you can also use a different colored spray bottle for each one too because they can tell the difference in colors

Lukie has put holes in our curtains, too. I will have to try these suggestions, as well.

Budgies certainly can tell colours. Lukie has a whiffle ball in yellow and red in his cage. He also has a carousel with smaller whiffle balls of different colours and he always plays with the one that is the exact same colouring as his whiffle ball in his cage! We were amazed when we first realised it.

Luv
