i have a new yellow budgie. he is yellow with little white feathers on his face. his eyes are red. he is so lovely. i have had him for eight days and he is about nine weeks old. I also had his wings clipped. i have had bugies for ever and this is the first bird that i have clipped. i have him stepping up onto my finger and on sunday i could put him on my shoulder.

tonight he stayed on my shoulder for about ten minutes. i didn't go far from his cage and he has now worked out how to fly home. when he was on my shoulder i showed him how to go home by my arm (a long tree trunk).

i think he wistled me tonight.

i am doing so well.

There's nothing more rewarding than earning the trust of your new little feathered friend. Good going with the training!

i need some help. my progress with my budgie has stopped. i have called him billy cause he flies off the table top and falls. silly billy.

i can get billy to hop onto my finger then my shoulder but he wont come out of the cage on his own.

i have caught him playing with a toy but he stops when he sees the humans.

i am feeling sad and miss my budgie, that went to god in May. i want/need the interaction that ive had before and just need it again.

Don't worry. About it, you are doing a good job.

Parrots should in general only ever come out of the cage, by you taking them out, they shouldn't be encouraged to come out by their own. This is because by coming out on their own they learn that they don't need you to go out and have fun and think that they have managed to scare you away.

Keep doing what you are doing. Spend lots of time near his cage. It will take him a little while to get used to you being around. My budgie took two weeks, and he is very outgoing, so your budgie may take longer or he make take no time at all. You are doing well. :budgiedance:

what has happened recently do you feel he could have lost that trust? Was he scared some how?

I would go through the taming article I posted up top more and use some of those techinques.
