hey, i'm a korean teenage girl living on long island, a current junior in high school. i was born in seoul, korea, and immigrated to the US as a 5 month old baby. since then i've lived in north carolina, texas, and various locations in long island, new york.

i also used to have a budgie, but she passed away when i was in 6th grade. ^_^

recently i've become reobsessed with budgies and found this community, which seems to be very populous and active!

so i hope i'm welcome here, even though i don't currently own any birds :P

i'd love to have a budgie, but right now i'm busy with school, to the point where i can't even keep my room clean. and there really isn't a good spot to keep a budgie in my house. i spend the most time in the living room, but it's right next to kitchen, and we love our non-stick cookware. haha.

so maybe, when i'm older (perhaps an upperclassman in college?) i'll be living on my own and i can finally get a budgie!!! that's a long wait, but right now i can get my fill by looking at all of your pictures! :ausb:

edit: oh, and if you couldn't tell, i'm VERY proud of being korean! wooooooo! in my free time i watch a lot of korean dramas and movies to the point where i'm sure it's a bit unhealthy. heh.

Hi Sue,

we are very happy to have you here. Look around, enjoy and chat. Maybe our budgies can become your cyber budgies. ^_^

^_^ Nice to meet you Sue. read UP on budgie care/housing/feeding and you will be ready when the timing is right. Good that you don't own a bird when you are unable to care for it. :P

Hi Sue, welcome to the BBC forum, it is fantastic to have you here. Even though I have a lot of budgies of my own there are so many budgies you get to know here through hearing about them and photos that are posted, that you get very attached to these 'cyber budgies' - as Kaz put it.

I think it is great that you realise that you are not in a position to give a budgie the care it needs right now, and you should be very proud of yourself for understanding that.

It is also great that you are so proud of your heritage, too many kids from different countries are ashamed or embarassed about speaking a different language or being "different" and so much is lost. They realise when it is way too late how much they missed by not keeping up the language skills and not understanding their own background and often regret the decisions made in youth. Good on you!
