Karen,

You and your flock are in my thoughts and prayers,

Kamikaze, any better....

I truely don't know the "Right" words to say I usually tend to put my foot in my mouth SO i wish you all the best and speedy recoveries..........

Kamikaze is still looking "fluffy" but is alive again today. I will feel better when I see him eat on his own, not just survive on crop feeds.

 HANG IN THERE GUYS!! Those awful toxins must be leaving your little systems by now, the worst is over. :angel1:

I believe I can move 8 birds into a hoilding cage now and out of the hospital cage. Two still touch and go...Kamikaze and a cinnamon grey older hen as well.

End result of the poison branches saga...lost 8 birds in all. All the youngsters ( except 3 ) went into a flight cage today having got better due to meds and the warmth of the hospital cage and diiligent care and attention. Nine birds recovered and released today into a holding/ flight cage. Three birds still not brilliant and in the hospital cage. Kamikaze is still reed thin and not eating well and receiving some nourishment by crop feeds. I fear he is damaged. Other sick youngster is a dark YF mauve ( grey looking ) and the cinnamon grey hen is also still in the hospital cage but looking a bit better. So three to try and get well again.

Thanks Rainbow :angel1: This happened while you were away with computer problems. I was very lucky in saving the ones I did, and very, very lucky it wasn't much worse as it could have been. :D

I'll bet Ken is beside himself. :) Guilt is a horrible feeling. How fortunate for all you knew to remove those branches and start some kind of treatment. I hope they all continue to improve...fingers and feathers are crossed over here!

Know that I fully understand what you are going through Kaz. It is a dreadful feeling when you go to the hospital cages wondering who will be gone today.

I feel for you.

Unfortunately accidents do happen in bird keeping and even though it breaks our heart it teaches us a valuable lesson that we know we won't repeat the accident.

Thanks Karen, I know you know the feeling...its really hard to take, when an "accident" like this could have been avoided and is at the cost of the innocent ones.

I lost Kamikaze earlier in the week, but was too upset over him to post. All the remaining babies and a couple of adults that were affected by the poisoning and were in the hospital cage have now gone into a recovery cage and looking much better. I lost another two showbirds from it also, a lacewing hen that took off first prize a couple of weeks ago as well. All in all, I have lost 14 birds to the toxic branches, and it looks to be at an end, with all remaining affected birds on the road to recovery. Lessons learnt by my husband, a lot of extra dilligent care for sick birds by me, and some losses far too hard to bear and too hard to take at the time. Like I have said many times....it doesnt matter how many birds you have or how long you have had them...these darling creatures work their way into your heart within seconds, and more so if you were there with them the day of their hatching and all the days forward from that. There is a sadness in my heart and they will all be remembered. :angel1:

I am really sorry for your loses, Kamikaze in particular. Kamikaze seemed like a great little bird from you photos. He was way too young to go...

You did everything you could, a big hug to you.

Gee Kaz that is realy sad to loose so many little birds, everytime I go out to my breeding room I hope that I don't see a little one dead, which does happen time to time, like at the moment I have 19 young babies, I have lost 7 through parents squashing or not feeding, they were between 1 -2 days old but I was soo upset.

I have 2 realy nice babies at the moment that are showing real show quality, big in size long bibs one is an opaline with the best v my partner has seen in 7 yrs or so he reckons. So I am real hopeful at the moment.

They are out of a bird which we thought was infertile. REAL excited

I hope all your birds recover and get back to perfect health. Cheers Julie :D

Kaz, dear Kaz :D I was very sorry when you told me of Kamikaze's passing, but having seen him a week ago, when you said he was looking a bit better than he had been, it didn't surprise me. The poor little thing battled a long time before he lost his fight. He will be the one I will remember most from this awful event, he represents those that fought back to good health and those that died.

Be at peace all you precious birds.

*hugz* for my friend, Kaz.

Karen, with everything going on in my life I haven't spent much time reading the posts. So sorry for all of your losses. Two of Star and Wylie's babies died shortly after Lucas got sick. I had rehomed them to my sis. Even with all going on with Lucas it still broke my heart. You can't help but love the little things. To lose so many at one time must have been very painful.
