It would be really nice to see some of his dreams come true and maybe you could look into it. Here is their link http://www.wish.org/refer Hi Karen, Thanks. Lucas knows that he will have an opportunity for a wish after his treatment is finished. The staff in the brain tumour clinic informed us that early on. They showed us the "wall of fame" of all the brain tumour patients and many of the pics are of the kics on their wish trips or with their wish items. I have no idea what Lucas will want but I'm hoping that it will be a trip as I think we'll all really need a good vacation and some fun after the year we will have had. What did your niece choose as her wish? My niece was mad keen on the TV show the PONY CLUB. She flew interstate, got to meet the cast of THE PONY CLUB and go out to lunch with them at a nice restaurant and was collected in a limousine, got lots of lovely gifts and much more. The whole thing was video-ed for her to keep also. How wonderful for her! And nice that she has a keepsake of the special day. Thanks for sharing that. My husband and I are new to these forums, but we have been moved to tears by the strength and determination shown by both Shawna and Lucas in the face of such adversity. You are both amazing, amazing inspirations!! Our thoughts, prayers and hopes will be with you from this day forward. To your brave little man Shawna, he is truly a little battler, you must be so proud of him. Also, the love and support of everyone on the forums is overwhelming, let's ope it helps you through these troubled times. Welcome to the forums. It really is a fantastic place to learn about and talk budgies. I learned everything I know here. Thanks for your kind words and prayers. We appreciate each and every one of them. Link to comment

Some days were pretty good. One day Lucas even ate supper which was a thrill. He has 11 radiation appointments to go and then we get our 4 week break. We are all looking forward to that. Lucas has been missing the kids he goes to school with. We live in a rural place with only one child close by. Today his cousin Zach came for a visit and he was THRILLED. They had fun playing Xbox, flying the Dragonfly, and playing their gameboys. Lucas was content to play with or beside him. It didn't matter as long as he was here. Here is a picture of the two of them with their gameboys. His hair is all gone except for some fuzz. I think he looks cute. Link to comment

And we are counting down the final radiaition treatments. Only 6 to go. He has some tissue granulation around his tube. We'll have to keep an eye on it as it can grow. I guess it is treated with a wart removal type of treatment so I hope that it doesn't get too big and bothersome. He got to visit his school this week. It is the first time he has seen the kids in almost two months. He was actually quite reserved at first but I can understand as he was basically swarmed by all of the kids. It didn't take long though for him to settle back in. The teacher let the kids run amuck for our visit. Here is a picture of him holding one of the butterflies (or moths?) they raised in the classroom. Link to comment

I remember when we started 30 seemed like so many. Lucas has tolerated everything very well. The radiation oncologist is very pleased with how Lucas' treatments have gone. We start a nice break from all treatments on Monday. We return for some meetings and a small procedure - having the g-tube replaced around the 25th of July, and then on the 30th he is admitted for his first of 9 cycles of chemo. Hopefully he will tolerate it well and we will only have to stay a couple of days. We don't have much planned for the month off other than spending time in the pool, visiting with family, etc. I don't want to be too far from home. We are tired from all of the trips back and forth to Halifax, so staying home sounds good to me. Thanks everyone again for all of the postive thoughts, prayers, etc. I believe they have helped us on this journey. Edited June 23, 2007 by Shawna Link to comment

So are Randy and I - no more driving to Halifax. His is quite tired but is still feeling really good. And his appetite is slowly coming back. He still gets formula through his tube at night, but we have cut back one box. I'm hoping that over the next week or so we can go down to one box. The weather has been great so he has been having fun in the pool. And his cousin has been visiting so he has been having fun with him. Link to comment

Lucas was admitted today to start his first "big" chemo. He so far has tolerated it well - no vomiting at all. Actually he ate quite well which amazed me. Last week we go the best news. His MRI (first since surgery) showed no tumour growth in the brain or the spine. He had been very tired for a few weeks and was quite wobbly. We were terrified the tumour was back. But our prayers were answered. Thanks everyone for your positive vibes, prayers, thoughts, best wishes. We are confident our little cancer warrior - as he likes to be known now - is going to beat the monster. Link to comment
