I've had Bluey and Tweety from late november. Tweety's cere has always been like brown and has gone crusty. At the beginning Bluey's has been blue. They were preening eachother alot. Lately they hav been fighting but do feed eachother at meal times. Then I noticed Bluey's cere changed to a very light brown. So are they both females? And how can I stop this fighting.

If Bleuy's cere was a very deep blue like a male and it is now turning brown this could be indicating testicular tumor or illness. A male budgie's cere should not turn brown. If it was a light blue not a deep blue then he was probably a she. Do you have a pics of before and now? So we can compare?

Yeah. I have Two seed spots and two water spots but they both seem to like the same spots as eachother which causes a dilema.

Hi Kevin, how big is the cage? Maybe they are fighting as they are competing for space? Females can get a bit nasty with each other, especially if they are in breeding condition and feel like someone else is invading 'their' space. If the fighting gets too nasty you may need to separate them.

Yeah, The space has never really been a huge problem with them but I Tweety's cere is rather crusty at the moment, so she is in breeding condition. She is even mean with me aswell right now. She is really the one starting the fights.

Also I forgot to tell you guys, That i'll be moving into a much larger room, so my two feathered friends will be joining me. I want to buy them a much bigger cage, but want to also purchase two males. How would they react to a younger male? And what cage dimensions would be best for 4-6 budgies

With a cage for budgies you really want wider rather than taller so they can fly from side to side. Taller cages are more for finches and canaries, aren't they.

There are many different ways to set-up your cage. Visit these two discussions to show you examples of what our members do.

Hm, It says for budgies on the selling information. And budgies like to be high up.

Elly, What do you think of that cage? :(

The cage dimensions of that new one are, HEIGHT 92cm LENGTH 46cm WIDTH 36cm

Oh and you give the same link twice :D

Kevin, I totally agree. I wouldn't put my budgies in there. They need a flight cage. The one you are looking at doesn't have anough space to fly from side to side. You are 100% correct, they do like to be up high, so a long cage makes sense! It would be better if the length was 92cm.

Please don't go by the seller saying it is a budgie cage... I have seen a lot of cages and 'budgie starter kits in shops that should never ever be used to house budgies.

You need to find one more like the shape of this one:

The cage is too tall you need one that is wider or if you get a tall one that the width is still longer. You can see my set up in the links I posted :D. I have a tall cage but wide on wheels costed me 100 US on e bay.

the budgie starter kits cages are so tiny that a budgie can barely turn around and open its wings.

Yeah, They are really tiny. Just lookng through these cages, I am seeing small indoor aviarys that could house quite few budgies and Its tempting me to get one. B) But family would get angry :D
