Waiting for some materials to arrive mid next week. Meantime I knocked up another couple of vertical breeding cages. Two units of three verticals......making 6 cages.

as the cage fronts didnbt divide equally into the height of the vertical cabinets, I cut some glass for under each cage front.......slide it sideways for cleaning and adding food etc. Cuts down on some of the seed debris coming out the front.

Very nice kaz, and yes it's very helpful having the side wall up higher and a see through bottom... that way the chicks are easier to see when they fledge out of the nest and like you said stop's debris of seed from getting out....

Its mostly because I work with glass and have glass on hand in my workshop that I think of using it

Gets dirty just the same but keeps the seed debris in the cage. Sliding it sideways means I can change the paper, change the food, and also vacuum the bottom of the cage with little fuss.

Indeed, for the little effort of cleaning the glass with a sponge and hot water your saving alot of effort of having to vacuum the floor and clean up all the mess on the ground

finished the roofing today...mostly done. Need to fill some original screw holes in sheeting...we had to shift supports so the depth of patio was less than original to keep it obligatory 600mm off fenceline.......so I have to seal any old screw holes over next few days.

Yes, due to size. Wasnt too bad as it turned out original aviary was okay'ed by council. Specs for slab were required and we have to put in soakwell and guttering etc to ensure water runoff and had to create a fall on the roof instead of its original flatroof.

Looking great kaz!

The yard looks like a building site mate ^_^ But Ken is on holidays on Friday so we can prep the area for the cement slab next. Once thats done the rest is easier. I can fit out the walls and internal structures then. By the time the warmer weather startts we will have birds in there.

This is all coming along really well. What is most impressive when this done will be the massive kindy cage you will have left - as int he current aviary.

Do you plan to use that or are you going to knock all that down, clean things up, and build ken a beautiful big aviary for his new flock?

It seems we will be starting again with all the future aviaries. The old aviaries will look real crappy up against the new structures.
