Well a bit of an update. Yesterday I went to Hungry Jacks and picked up a very bad burger. It has taken over 24 hours to get it out of my system. So sorry VippiN on not having any photos.

Bubbles the construction method is like a large meccano set. You buy the 25mm square Alluminium tubing by the length, either 1.8m or 1.2m There is also joiners that hammer into the ends. The joiners come in all forms. Corners, three way, four way, five way etc. I am buying the system from Bunnings Warehouse. I am hoping that this weekend will be the finish. It's been a long time doing it. I estimate that it's cost close to $5,000au so far but havn't been counting.

I think she knows... The comment about moving a single bed in there might have been due to that. :)

Update time.

Not quiet over this sickness, so I was force to give up work today (friday) and return home for some rest and recouperation. :ausb:

PR015.jpg

I have put on a screen door to the main entrance. There is 6 kgs of holding force from two magnets. I am currently looking for an automatic door closer.

PR017.jpg

Bubbles these are the joiners. You hammer them into the tubing, very simple.

PR018.jpg

as you can see, the frame work is done but I still have to finish the wire. Hopefully this week end.

PR022.jpg

Don't look at the mess on the bench top. It is mostly for the construction. I have put up some shelving.

Added the vacuum cleaner (ebay)

PR023.jpg

This is one of two light fittings that are on all day. The black light to the right of it is the night light. It has a 15w bulb but still needed me to spray the cover as the birds were still awake all night. now it is a lot better for them. They still can see but not partying all night.

PR019.jpg

The inside of the second door makes a good spot for the Training cages. These three are my show cages. I will be puting them inside after I make the proper cages. The Proper cages will be a lot like these but in different configerations. I will have one set a bit larger for the young ones to get used too before going to the smaller sized show cage.

Hopefully Sunday night I can show the aviary as complete at least on the inside. There are still more to do out side.

Daz, you have done a wonderful job of working out the best possible working space for your requirements. It all looks perfect to me. Life is going to get much easier for you with so well planned an aviary.

Ps we heard from the neighbours over our back fence where all the bird noise would travel....she doesn't notice the bird noise and isnt worried in the slightest :D Neighbour to our left and right feels the same, although the neighbour to our right doesn't like our cats :budgiedance: and ....it seems we are lucky in all that :ausb:

As the birds go Kaz thats great news......but I don't like cats either :budgiedance:.... It's good to get the neighbours on your side. I should have done it from the beginning.

Council Update:

I have spoken to the Council, Community Responce Department, as I haven't heard anything all week. They have told me that they have forward their recommendations to the Council and the Certifiers that the Aviary and Birds comply to their standards and wish that I be granted a permit on both.

This doesn't mean I am approved though. It now goes to my local Councilor for his objections. Now here is the catch. If the Councilor doesn't answer it will be approved.

Thanks Rainbow.

Well it is a new form of weight loss. Since I have been instructing and not training my weight has gone up to 91 kg. I would like it to be 84 kg. Wednesday morning I was 91 kg but after the terrible night of throwing up and diarea, Thursday morning I was 89 kgs. When I checked it Friday morning I was 88kgs. which it still is today.

New directions for me. No more junk food, More hard working in the aviary and with the family and proper eating. I don't want to go through that again. It's Saturday night and I am just starting to feel better.

Today I finished the wire meshing. and have started on the perches. I have had to alter four breeding boxes to suit a door.

Photos tomorrow.

I still have to sort out the conversion of the stock cages to breeding cages and to tidy up the existing breeding cages but at least the birds are back flying.

It has been 4 months in the making. But from my beginnings it has been just under two years.

It was the 1st April 2005 that I joined here and decided to to look after Budgies.

It looks to be at least twice the size of your old one, and definitely an accomplishment to be proud of! I see an aviary that anyone of us would love to have in our backyards. I'd be showing that off to anyone that would look at it. :)

Well done, Daz, Well done!!!!

Daz, i have to say...

You have done one of the, if not the best, jobs i've ever seen of making a fully functional, fully DIY, awesome bird room!!!! :o You deserve 50 beers mate!!! Enjoy all the hard work, sweat, and pain you went through, just to spoil your birds wrotten, and give them an awesome home :) Props to you man!!! :P

When are you going to put the other birds in the flights? I still think you should put the babies in the middle, and either sexed adults on the ends :) (Laughing out loud). Up to you though mate, after all, you are the only one to decide :D (Laughing out loud) Have fun releasing them! I bet its SUCH a great feeling... You should be honored!

Kirbs ;)

Thanks all. I moved the chicks that were over 4 months in to the Juvinile flight last night. The middle one will be for the Cocks once everyone settles down.

Aviary-layout_s.jpg

Like the adults, this is the first time that the chicks have been able to fly and so are having trouble with the larger area. But this will strengthen their wings and burn off excess fat.

Update. Council has Approved my permit to keep the birds. But I have to get a permit for the Aviary. $660.00 so far has been paid to get the aviary approved.. But i might have to pay more. It will take another 3 weeks to find out if I am okay or have to pay more to get the approval. :D

What are you supposed to do if you can't get the permit for the aviary? This all seems very stupid for something as simple as an aviary for budgies.
