Not sure what made me think of this but in showing are some mutations harder to get to show standard? Or not rated so highly in shows? Like is it harder to get a winning pied than normal?

Yeah I have thought about that too!! When I went to that budgie show I noticed that the only pieds there were really weirdly patterned or really colourful. What catergory do pieds come into at a budgie show? What is the most popular mutation entered in a show?

recesives and clear wings will not normally win a cc as once they get to the final judging they lack size compared to the other birds lutinos and albinos do win cc agsinst normals but they have to be really special the same as double factor spangles very unusual to win a cc

How often do the pieds win? I know that it is normal for pieds not to carry the full complement of spots. Does anyone ever see any pieds win that are lacking spots? Is it common to breed non-spot pieds from fully spotted parents?

Good question, Bea.
