My Eggy Househould

:P Well, it's started again, Coca laid a little round egg this morning. It has been a month since I moved into a new house, of course everything is switched around and Coca's cage is as far away from Comet's as possible. I was very optimistic I had left the egg laying behaviour behind, have scaled down everybody's rations, sigh. Hopefully the shorter days will convince her not to lay, I just don't know what to do anymore, the Luprin injections only last so long. :P^_^

Not again!!! :( Hopefully she'll only lay the one egg and then get bored.

:( I always thought the well water was responsible, now I have city, chlorinated water (or whatever they do to it) so that wasn't it then. Don't ask me to take less care of my birds as it won't happen. It was a rather small egg so I hope this will be the end of it (time change here next week so it will be dark from about 0730 - 1600 or even less hours if it is a rainy day but I always leave a light on for them.) Silly goose Coco! :hap:

:( I just don't get it and neither does my bird vet (and she does aviary consultations). Still think that sneaky Comet throws off reproductive vibes and gets everybody going. And remember the lovebirds even got into the act earlier in the summer but stopped after two clutches. :hap:

:( A few months ago, Coco and Comet were trying to mate THROUGH the cage bars, Daz said my birds are weird. I still say it is Comet's fault, he LOVED it when he had babies to care for............. :hap:

:) Coco is now plastered over 3 unfertilized eggs on the cage floor (those laid previously she ate or ignored), will take her back to my vet after she has finished her egg laying and decide what to do. Somehow I believe these PROBLEM birds were delivered to my care for a reason, i.e. my mutilating/plucking lovie, my epileptic lovie, my insane male budgie Comet, my lipoma ridden budgies, Happy and Monty (who has other issues), my almost toeless, gorgeous tiel Jodie (who is smooching me right now). I try to work with them and their problems and love them all, they are so great! I spare no expense with them. But this egg thing has driven me out of my mind, first with Star and Comet and now, Coco. And my Rosey Bourke has taken to egg laying behaviour as well (but she is too old to lay anymore, she used to) and has started spending a lot of time of the cage floor.

:D It's very difficult, risky, expensive and best done on larger birds, will change give her a Luprin shot for now. :)
