Personally I have 3 cats and even in my home I am cautious. When Pretty was in his small single bird cage I was always watching because Maxx or Molli could knock it over and plus there was no way for them to get away. Now the bigger cage I have which is considered an aviary but a small one on wheels they can get away from the cats and they can't knock it over. I feel safer with them in this cage then the other. The other debate is that it is secure and it can't be knocked over that can be true completely but it comes down to is the cage really safe if the cat decided he wanted to do more then sit. And personally if it is just sitting there that is when I would deal with it like spray water at it get it off the deck so it doesn't come around. There are many more little birds in the wild he can watch. You do what you feel comfortable this is a debatable issue as many other are on how birds should be taken care of but so are dogs, cats and kids so you do what you feel is best for your home. Everyone here has expressed excellent views. Link to comment

Many years ago I lost a budgie to one of these who attacked the budgie through the bars of his cage. Supervise, supervise and then supervise! Link to comment
