NO look at the views...it is amazing!! I know I have come in and read it but not always replied because I don't have anything to say :) can you imagine that me with nothing to say.

If you want you could start a Part 2 - Daily Blog because this one is pretty huge and it would be too hard for a new member to read through it all but in your new one link this one in your post and say if you are interesting in reading from the beginning go here.

My suggestion for the day...

okay...sounds cool. I may leave it till after Christmas and then start again. That little Cinnamon is a nasty little biter ....I should call her FANG :) and I may yet if she doesn't change her ways  She is a "quacker" too and antisocial. Mars, on the other hand is very like Wallace ( my YF2 spangle baby from Swift ) and like Crystal in temperament...very confident and excited about being out in the world. I have high hopes for that boy.

I am handfeeding three babies that weren't being fed by parents. Rocky and Bunty think they dont have to feed their two babies anymore. So I am handfeeding the male violet normal baby (called Starvin' Marvin) and also a little female called Twiggy. I am also feeding a little YF blue baby of Laureen and Jerry's. Poor little things. I don't know if they will make it but so far so good. :hap:

We will have more feathers by the weekend....but we have a definite DF Spangle in white looks like. The other has pale colour on wings and may be a dilute.....time will tell with that one.

I like Lovey's idea. Start a new one but link to this one. Don't stop though. I read this every day!! I learn so much from this. I just don't have much to add and don't respond when I don't have anything intelligent to say. Pleaaaase continue?

yeah the first looks like a DF spangle, the other well in that pictures the wing markings look slightly brown.

Love Marvin, not sure of the 'spot' was he picked on by mum or dad? That could explain fesh feathers growing in slightly different coloured to the rest.

Starvin Marvin wasn't picked on or pecked...it just came out that way. Rocky has the tiniest spot on the back of his head too. I dont know if these bubs will make it. I just put Marvin in Kaya and Sonny's box as Sonny feeds babies well and the other two in thier box are similar ages....here's hoping. The other two orphans I am feeding were put in with Harley and Rose as their bubs are similar ages too. I will check and any not being fed will be fed by me. But sibling warmth and such is a good thing thats why I put them in the nesting boxes with others.

All three handfed bubs that have been put in nests are still being fed by me. I gave the foster parents plenty of chance to feed them but they feed their own bubs and not the foster budgies. I put them back in the nests for warmth after I hand feed them. Marvin looks a little dehydrated but he and others are filling their crops well enough. I hope they are okay. Everytime I have had to hand feed a baby budgie it has had other problems and it dies. So I dont have a lot of faith in myself as a surrogate Mum. :D

One foster baby died....squashed by two parents in a box at night. :)

On another note.....Nerwen, Lovey, Rainbow, Daz and others .......if I have a grey opaline female with a YF cobalt dom pied male........is there any chance I can get grey and white dominant pied babies from this pairing?

Update on these two chicks.....

Youngest baby is a dilute spangle same colour as Mum it seems. She is a dilute grey that appears like a mushroom colour...slightly pinky browny grey. Baby is colouring up the same as Mum. Has the two middle tail feathers white which apparently indicates spangle. Other baby is a DF spangle. Both decent sizes and healthy.

A new baby born today to two recessive pied parents......but baby is an adopted egg. I opened the nesting box in time to see a freshly opened eggshell and baby did a quick flip and a wiggle and popped out. Very cool. One of Goliath and Jades eggs.

A weird kind of pied spot has developed on the back of the head of Rocky and Bunty's violet blue baby. It is where some normal looking budgies have a pied spot and it does indeed have a spot showing but it is where the feathers or bars area would have black stripes if it was normal..... but the stripes in that area have formed a spot like a pied spot but it is in cinnamon feathers just in that area :D very weird....what do you think ? xxx244.jpg

Is there something wrong with this baby? It just doesn't look quite right to me - the legs? Splayed? Toes curled?

Baby was fine and was able to perch well on my finger....no legsplay, toes and feet fine. Some very young baby birds dont sit well on surfaces they arent used to . But baby was severely dehydrated and unfed by parents. This baby died earlier today. :D

Thanks Lovey. Despite my best efforts to handfeed this one and keep it alive, it failed to thrive. I am beginning to believe that budgies know best at times. The ones they consistently push away and decide not to feed any more generally have something wrong we dont instantly recognise. In saying this.....its feet and legs were fine. It did have a crop and digestion problem however. I tried and failed :D

Karen, you are right we as humans try to act like God at time (not that you were) but nature has it course as you say. When breeding a good line of budgies you will always have losses. The strong survive right and the weak die. The strong survive to continue on a stronger line. That is our hopes. We have messed alot with the breeding in all different types of pets/animals for the pure sense of beauty. When really all living creature born is a miracle in itself.

Yasmin is gorgeous can she be my cyber budgie :budgiedance: because I LOVE her. My first will always be my little Bubbles.
