  1. The budgie I'm hand rearing has formula drip out of the sides when he is eating. I wipe it off but it has gotten large chunks in his cheeks and on his chest feathers. His cheek formula is connected to his skin so I can't cut it all away. His chest some of the feathers came out, stuck to others with formula. I cut that out, but then I saw what looks like two feather ends stuck under his skin, and they were bleeding from the tips. They stopped after not much blood, but I don't know what the things under his skin on his crop and how to deal with the large formula. They are too small to be cysts.about half a cm. Mum says when he moults it'll fix itself but he is only three weeks old. I can't afford a vet.

  3. I breed budgies in my aviary and I recently hatched a bunch of four. One of the budgies must be aggressive because 3 have sustained injuries. 2 have healed up nicely with some medication, but one received injuries to its lower beak. I gave it some antibiotics before going away for 4 days. I came home today to find the swelling gone, but one side of the beak is disconnected from the chin. I was planning on hand rearing one for the first time after owning budgies for a year and Im going to do this one. What will happen with the beak? He doesn't make any noise whatsoever that I have heard, while the others in the nest do. He is about 2 and a half weeks maybe? Im not sure how to upload pictures, this is my first post. Also any tips on hand rearing will be appreciated.
  4. Hi...my hen has two babies, one is 12 days old and the other is 11 days. Thankfully, the hen has up to now been looking after the babies very well. I think the babies may have splayed legs but I'd like some advice please before I carry out the sponge procedure described in Kaz's post. Thanks Below are some pictures of the cock & hen and the babies. Blue is hen
