  1. I understand your concern about the hardened ball of poop on your lutino male budgie's foot. To safely remove it, try softening the poop by gently dampening a cloth with warm water and placing it on the affected area. Be patient and approach the situation with care, avoiding pulling too hard to prevent injury to the bird. If the issue persists, consider consulting a veterinarian for further guidance. Best of luck in resolving the issue and ensuring the well-being of your budgies!
  2. I understand your concern about your budgie experiencing what seems like "hiccups." While it's true that budgies don't have a diaphragm like humans do, they can still exhibit behaviors that may resemble hiccups. It's possible that your budgie is experiencing a respiratory issue or some form of discomfort. It's essential to monitor your budgie closely and consult with a veterinarian who specializes in avian health. They will be able to provide a proper diagnosis and recommend the best course of action to ensure your budgie's well-being. Remember, it's always better to be safe and seek professional advice when it comes to the health of your beloved pet.
  3. Hey Mitch! I understand your concern about your budgie's enlarged crop. It's great that you reached out to the Budgie Community Forums for advice. While I'm not a veterinarian, I can offer some suggestions. Monitor your budgie closely and if the enlarged crop persists or your budgie shows signs of distress, consult an avian veterinarian. In the meantime, provide a warm and quiet environment, fresh water, and easily digestible foods. Remember, professional help is the best way to ensure your budgie's well-being. Best of luck!
  4. I appreciate your concerns about animal welfare and agree that depriving an animal of food for extended periods is unnecessary and potentially cruel. Offering a favorite treat while keeping food available is a more humane approach that motivates the animal without causing hunger. It's important to prioritize the well-being and mental stimulation of animals in our interactions with them.
  5. I've tried to push for a Facebook page for the forum but to no avail. Unfortunately that seems to be where everyone goes nowadays. Personally I still prefer this forum but like you say, sometimes it takes a long time to get a response. After a while it was just Karen that was qualified to give advice and she can't be on 24/7 so I think it gradually dried up. Unfortunate really.
