  1. Looks like a great time was had by all... Can't wait to see some pictures Kaz...
  2. Be patient. It's night time here in Aus and most people sleep at night.. Looks greywing to me.. You will breed 100% greywings if mated to another greywing.
  3. Nice... Daniel had some good birds .. You did well then..
  4. Number 1 looks like a male to me.. Number 2 looks male also.. Number 3 looks female..
  5. I remember the old days before the importation of the English budgerigars. If you didn't see the cockbird mate within 5 minutes you would try another one. But usually they did mate within 5 minutes. Like Kaz said, these days it's rare to catch them in the act.
  6. I have a MOP at the moment and it is in good condition and seems happy.. I really hate to kill anything but will if it seems to be suffering. Am I being unkind keeping it alive ? I don't believe so. I think it's personal choice, whether to kill or not. For some it's easy and for others it's not. My MOP is getting fresh seed and water everyday and is being kept warm. It happily sits in my hand. I clean it and monitor it every day, I will take the appropriate actions if and when I see fit to do so. So if that sounds unkind then I am guilty. well you know mine kept going for a while..............you and I and some others would be consider experienced hands to be caring for these birds. A petshop customer in most cases may not be. Good luck with yours I agree 100% Kaz. And we would never sell them to unsuspecting buyers for the sake of a few dollars. I just felt like giving this MOP a change to live a bit longer. Another day and another time I might have done away with it. Have you bred any more since Dusty.
  7. Hi how is Ferdinand going....Here is a picture of my FD. Around 2 to 3 months old and very happy.

  9. Well done Pet Mart and well said KAZ.. Thanks for bringing this to our attention Rachelm..
  10. How about we all send them an email. Telling them how we feel about what they are doing. I am going to send one. Might not make a difference, but if a lot of us sent an email they might just take notice. staff@petmartaustralia.com
  11. Bird number 1 looks like a double factor dominant pied. Check for iris rings. Recessive pieds have a solid black eye and dominant pieds have iris rings. Bird number 2 is also opaline. bird number 3 looks cobalt from the picture. Quite a pretty bird with this combination..
  12. I said trimmed feathers won't grow ..Not regrow when fallen out... .. When I trim vent feathers I can breed for the season without needing to trim again. When I have plucked in the past I need to do it again between rounds. People trim flight feathers to stop their pets from flying away. Usually they will grow back after the bird has moulted. ( this is my opinion anyway ). Reason that I trimmed my FD was that Feathers were growing back into the eyes making them very weepy. and also the poop was getting clagged up around the vent area. I will take a picture of my FD TaniaOK and post it here. It is around 3 months old and doing quite well. I have not had the need to trim this bird as feathers are not causing it any problems as yet.
  13. I would trim them a little bit. Trimmed Feathers wont grow..I have a FD just a little older than yours..
  14. THE CHALLENGE by Gerald Binks is a great book but a bit expensive..
  15. starting to look a bit girly now...keep your fingers crossed
  16. Sounds like French moult but hard to tell without a photo... Are they still with mum...could be getting plucked...
  17. before Ivermectin people would smear vaseline over the affected area..
  18. If baby is a cinnamon then dad is split for cinnamon as mum cannot be split for cinnamon...This makes the baby a hen........
  19. I am with Neville...Baby looks opaline to me..So If dad was opaline and mum was normal then baby must be a girl...( as long as it is opaline ). Is the baby also cinnamon...? If so then dad would be split cinnamon which would again make baby a girl...
