  1. No she doesn't have a nest. She just lays them from her perch and she doesn't worry about them. I understand they will be fertile - would I be able to remove them? Or would that just make her lay more? Someone told me I can boil them for a couple of mins - that seems so horrible though. Yes she does spend time out of her cage, but not everyday as I work full time. This is the first time having a female bird.
  2. Hello all, Haven't posted in a long long time, but still a budgie lover! Sorry in advance for the long story! I've had Ollie for a year and 3 months and I'll be honest, she's tame but not loving at all. No kisses, won't let me scratch her head ect. She just likes to sit on me and chill. Not long after I brought her, I decided to get her a friend, but her friend turned out to be female and they fought like crazy. Ollie at first was the dominate one, but the new bird quickly grew bigger and became the dominate one. Started pulling out her feathers, biting her feet and hogging the food,
  3. Thanks for the reply I feel alot better now He's sitting in his cage tweeting now. I just started to really worry as after the vet put it on he then went on to say how sometimes budgies can have a reaction ... So I wasn't feeling totally confident. The vet isn't an avian vet but I went to him as he is only around the corner from me.
  4. Hello some of you may have read my last post asking about my Leroy - unfortunately there was nothing she could do so I have to make the hard decision of having him put to sleep. On a happier note I have adopted another babie - named Ollie. He is doing very well and is already quite tame after only being here for 2 wks. Today I noticed that he had lice so I rang the vet and made an appointment. Well we're back home now and I'm a little concerned. I'm pretty sure the vet used ivomectin (sp.?) but he put more than 1 drop on and he put it on his nose !!!!!! Everywhere I read its on the back of t
  5. Hello, I haven't been on this forum for ages! Leroy is going to be 3 in January and all has been going well, until now. He loves his varied diet - he has veggies or fruit everyday, along with seed. For the last week or so he has been extremely quiet and sleeping a lot. He seemed to have diarrhea and when I looked at his bottom, he's pulled all the feathers out and his vent was covered over. So after a google search, I found on Barrie's budgies to wash it with a soap with a cotton bud (I used moogoo shampoo) and to put a thin coating of Vaseline on it. I've been doing this for about 5
  6. Yes I have to say Im definitely a shopper. My latest obsession is Mimco - Im obsessed with the stuff - Doesn't help that an outlet store has opened up around the corner from my work LOL

  8. Cute photos ............. Also, I like you hair - its very nice, makes you look abit like P!nk.
  9. My birds wings are clipped as in the past I have lost 2 birds due to the flying away. My bird can still kinda fly across, but cannot get up into the air if you know what I mean. Its a personal choice and everyone has to make their own mind up.
  10. I had a calcium bell hanging in my birds cages for a few weeks before he even touched it. Just put in next the their favourite spot and he wont be able to help himself. I have also got him a calcium perch which he has chewed big grooves into as well.
  11. I am by far no expert, but a friend of mine had something similar happen to her bird. She took him to the vet and was told that often tumours cause this. But I am sure that your vet would know for sure after seeing the bird. Goodluck, there is nothing worst when one of your pets are sick. It would be much easier of they could just tell us.
  12. My bird has a plush bird buddy that I tie on the side every night. This is it here: http://www.worldforpets.com.au/products/pr...ail.asp?ID=1228 Its not something that he actually sits in, but he sits beside it and snuggles into it. Its like sitting to another bird. He waits for me to put it in at night, and he loves to "preen" it lol. As his cage is downstairs and its tiled, it gets pretty chilly during winter at night. Everybody is different, but we like to pamper our pets.
  13. ooooooooooh that is just too cute !!!!!!

  17. What a cutie !!! :redalbino:
  18. I feed my budgie celery, celery tops, corn, watercress, bean sprots, snow pea shoots and alfalfa. He isnt much into fruit. I have tried many different things but these seem to be his favourites. I think he enjoys the picking and throwing things around more than actually eating them.
  19. He's really cute Alpaca boy !!! One of the pet shops near me sells these - he looks like he is very spoilt. What size tank is he in and does he come out of the tank at all?
  20. Hi, Yes i have two green tree frogs. They are brothers and 7 years old. oooooh they are lovely. We have a couple of green tree frogs that live in our court yard! We used to live in the country and we were always finding them around our verandah and even in the loo a few times hehe. They are gorgeous, I love frogs.
  21. Hi! Haha sounds like your lot are very spoilt - Do you also have pet frogs?
  22. My budgie was like that as well when I brought him home. I think it just takes a little while for them to settle in. Now he is active, talks and is very friendly. Your boy is VERY cute by the way
