  1. If parents do not show opaline or dad is opaline the last chick would be female. I'd say the first one is female.
  2. As far as my understanding goes, violet is a shade of blue, and not made up of red and blue.
  3. Yes, I did use a flash. I'll try to get a picture without it.
  4. That picture doesn't show the colour at all . The pony thing was a joke, I'm allergic to them so.... I don't have a mobile phone, ipod or anything because my money is being all saved up for my budgies. Here are some better pics.
  5. I wouldn't take the whole clutch, I will have a re-think now
  6. I will probably be hand rearing a couple of chicks sometime this year. My brother is very keen on having a pet budgie for himself and he has shown that he is very responsible ( he has a fish tank ) with pets. I have been researching my butt off and I have a brooder and the feeding tools. I will get a heat lamp ( my usual one has finally busted ) and I have a bit of hand rearing formula for an emergency ( will get another pack ). Any advice/experiences would be great! PS: I will hand rear in school holidays.
  7. No, not in a club. I don't know a ring register, I'll look it up
  8. Yo Dave, Nothing to worry about mate....the tail colour will moult off within 6 months.....sit back and enjoy the 20 bucks Q: Do you sell the birds you breed or keep them in your aviary?? Big $$ in budgie breeding? What? Chubba Chubs is almost a year old and hasn't moulted them out. I did look at the ring, Dave, it was PH1 something, but they wouldn't let me hold it.
  9. I was wondering if I would be able to use that play area for my budgies ( without the cage )? As in a play area while I clean out the cage? Or would that be too risky?
  10. Billy went home recently and I explained all of this. The owner is getting a bigger cage, and will be spending much more time with her The owner gave me $50 for looking after Billy and 'curing' her biting issue ( cage aggression, no problem ) so I bought a massive rope perch for the budgies, which the budgies adore.
  11. It's a recessive gene, and I don't think my birds are split for rec pied, so it will probably stay hidden.
  12. She was in fairly good condition ( can't say that for another female budgie who has a very bad mite condition and has been obviously picked on ) , her nails were a bit long, but that's soon fixed. She has a pied spot, so I assume she's split rec pied.
  13. Hen is getting picked up Monday, we're going away for the weekend. I'm on Summer Holiday and I go back to school ( to high school *gulp* ) next Friday, I think.
  14. When I was looking after a budgie for someone, I woke up in the night occasionally to see a dark shape inside the cage hanging from the roof . When I came put the torch on, it turned out to be a budgie! Weird.
  15. Thanks Kaz. No, Finnie, they haven't shown much interest even though I've tried to tell them multiple times how important it is . I even mentioned it in my logical reasons ( number 6 and 7 ) . Thank you Kassidy I haven't heard from you in ages!
  16. How old would she be? I think she's about 8 months going on irises, is that about right? Quarantine cage is all set up now and ready to go.
  17. My favourite logical reason was number two 2. It's either the budgie or a pony!
  18. Getting another budgie on Monday!!!

Same lol. Or rather, can't wait until she's here :)

  19. It worked!! The hen is on hold and I'm getting her Monday! :bluebudgie:
  20. I went back today, and she's still there, but I have to convince my parents to let me buy the hen out of my own money first. I've done a sheet with 10 logical reasons why I should be able to buy it. So now I'm doing a load of jobs that my parents told me to do, and hoping it pays off.
