  3. breed phantom and the pied violet hen together first up you will then find out ...one ... if phantom in fact has inherited the pied genetic from Apollo two... what color he is what factor he carry's and three you will breed agf chicks and type two yf chicks all spangles and if he holds the pied genetic he will breed pie's and split pies in all the colors you need to get a good first gen started the pieds could be brother sister doms can be split rec pied we will find out where is smigle ??? can you get me a new picture of each bird hun in next week just so i know who im looking at with name and sex next to it cheers
  4. i can do that will be fun its been while since i got to breed pretty birds am missing it sooooooooooooo much okay well first are your golden face pieds brother sister ? can you tell me familys as if you want to do this to get proper line pet rainbows as a end result then best not to breed inbreeding if posible to start so can you write all familys for me an easy way to do it is is to an example yf sky spangle cock /rec pied then list all his chicks every one you have even if with other hens ..okay then so on so on next to the chicks then write as example yf grey hen......grey hen and their age if known can you do that for me ???? do this will all the birds you have and the ones you havent breed that are not in familys then just write in a list after the familys you have this way i know what i can work with to get you their straight away soon as pos OMG ...edited as im soooo DUMB lol you did all that lol okay ps great the rec is violet even better start Kitron - YF 2 Spangle Grey possibly split Rec.Pied (Mother is Willow, Father is Apollo) Smudgie - Grey Recessive Pied (Mother is Willow, Father is Apollo) Phantom - YF 2 DF Spangle/Cinnamon (not sure on factor colour, mum was a violet, Father is Apollo) Vermello - Some type of clearwing/dilute and spangle mish mash.... grey-green Apollo - YF 2 Sky Blue Opaline Spangle /Rec.Pied...Willow - Spangle Grey/Rec. Pied ............. mum n dad to Kitron - YF 2 Spangle Grey possibly split Rec.Pied (Mother is Willow, Father is Apollo) Smudgie - Grey Recessive Pied (Mother is Willow, Father is Apollo) Smiggle - Normal Violet/Rec. Pied maybe Fallow Tingle - GF Recessive Pied Cobalt Kringle - GF DF Dominant Pied Violet Kislap - Spangle Clearbody Opaline Mauve ( okay is that all related bro sisters half bro sisters ??? anything else related do you know ps keep the grey green dilute out of this all together dont use grey green if you can help it as will take longer to get pretty colours should discared the greys two however you need them for now to breed more cobalts or skys or violets /mauves so just for now .... we can use them to get numbers
  5. hey welcome to budgie land '
  6. i agree nev the one behind the first one looks single factor yf cobalt
  7. here a link to breeding violets by Henry George http://www.prbs.org.au/files/BREEDING%20VIOLETS%20By%20Henry%20George.pdf
  8. hey i think hes a cinnamon mauve-violet fellow dom pied you sure it was a lacewing that your first breed pair was not a cinnamon fellow ??? do you have a shot of the white lacewing mum that was with bluey also would explain it as fellow is recessive genetic lacewing is sex linked ive seen one only ever like him the lady down road had him brought from pet shop i was spuing as i so wanted to breed fellow pied and yes the colour is iridecent in the light i remember how viberant it was on one i saw fantastic his cere wont change colour whats his son look like again can i see please his dad looks like a cinnamon violet grey wing
  9. i agree the last two are agf cobalt s im thinking the top one if it is an iris ring in its eye like looks to be is a df dom pied i can help you with what colors you want to breed as these little beauties was my thing as pet birds i also think the df is cobalt not mauve or violet if you breed apollo back to his daughter the cobalt spangle yf you will start the process however is that hen that hes next to not the yf (grey ) the mother is she mauve cause if she is then the yf is mauve also and breed him with her again if you can rather than the daughter you have the makings in your aviary to breed these squeek its really not that hard to grasp with out knowing your genetics just need to know your basic splits and what your cocks are split two also your colour factors light ,dark, double dark id be more than happy to share the pairings you need as in what dark factors you will need to get what colours your wanting you already know i bet just some days our brains go durrrrrr

There are three recognised Yellowface varieties at this time: Goldenface, Yellowface Mutant 2 & Yellowface Mutant 1. All various Yellowface mutants are recessive to Green, but are dominant to Blue. Since the Yellowface varieties have for so long been referred to as Single or Double Factor birds this trend will continue in this table. The word Yellowface in this table will be followed by M1 or M2 to designate which Yellowface Mutant is concerned. For matings of each of the Yellowface Mutants as a separate group refer to the Dominant Mating Table. 17. ill be looking forward to hearing from you then
  18. im sorry guys to bust your bubble but if you ask me thats just a very bad agf df normal and the fact is if you put a yf and agf together this is what you get id need a whole lot more than that to be actually calling it a NEW mutation these have been around for year classed as crappy goldenfaces sorry my opinion as a golden face breeder from years back i do hold alot of admaration for mr tonkin and and hes suplyed me with alot of help in last three years specially when other could not help but i have seen birds like this many times in my years of breeding mainly pets but still only diffrence is size and feather we all know that if im wrong great as i personally think their beautiful but still think its just a mix of breeding the three yf genetics together gb
  19. i have had birds prolapse and after a year rest no shorter re used and two to five eggs layed then re prolapse and not usable or fixable so in my opinion unless you want to get one round and possibly only one egg from them i wouldnt waste time so i personally would just want to let you know you cant sell her unless to pet shop as you would know and you cant use her and expect her to produce unless at least two years rest but you can wait one year and knowingly know she most probably will re prolapse and need putting down choice is yours she will live normal healthy life as a pet if no nest box around gb
  20. wow nice i want some like that lol hence word used was SOME
  21. glad someone else saw them too i was to afraid i was just seeing things lol a pied for sure very nice bird too
  22. I lost one nice grey green but I have it's sibling who is just as good. Things are going okay GB. Not breeding heaps but breeding keepers at the moment. Starting to slow down and slowly emptying the breeding cages. Looks like I am a cinnamon breeder again which is interesting since that was my most succesful variety last time around. That grey green above which is a dom pied was from the Henry George cinnamon and that dom pied hen that I got from your friend. He is a big strong boy, you can't tell too much from that photo but he will be a nice bird. 23. Just checked for the bird with the clipped wings so number 13 is second ? Good job GB and good summary.... sorry twisted i thought i put the number it was entry 13 a yf greywing (with out wings )
  24. okay well to start with thanks everyone that bothered to take the time to enter splats trying to bring some fun back to this place so people want to either par take or just enjoy the shananagons here on the sight and hopfully from that learn a bit of important information on the way as well hopefully stick around i was given the task to judge the pet birds as i really miss my little fellas i was quiet happy to do this for bit of fun now im judging these birds as if i was to be buying them for myself so as i love all birds it was really hard so i went by a few rulz one was i was going to pick the bird that to me was in best proportion as i truly believe a bird with an unbalanced head im talking pet or show is an ugly thing to look at ....but thats me two i decided to go for best marked and consistency of color as i really believe to produce a good bird you must start with well marked bird now i know you dont all breed and some these birds are just single pets but all in all a well marked wing with crisp out line and no patchiness always takes my eye well before a bird with out this but depending its variety of course thirdly i looked at age and i decided that it only be fair to judge birds that should be out nest so sorry to those of you whom took pics of very young cuties doesn't win shows so in saying all that it was still bit hard and i decided that all in all the 3 birds i would take home would be the three to place and reason why i will be pretending to have the smarts of a real judge hee hee however i truly dont have a clue but for fun will try toff it up a bit PLACE ONE GOES TO ENTRY TWO THIS BIRD TO ME STOOD OUT THE MOST IT SAID LOOK AT ME LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL I AM WITH ITS NICE STRAIGHT POSTURE AND TILT OF HEAD DIRECT EYE CONTACT THIS PICTURE WAS ID SAY THE BEST SO ADDED TO MY RETURNING TO IT OVER AND OVER I DO THINK ITS HEAD LOOKS A TAD SMALLER THAN I WOULD LIKE BUT IN SAYING THAT I BELIEVE COULD BE ANGLE OF CAMERA AND BEING A BABY AFTER THE MOLT IT WILL BALANCE PERFECTLY WITH ITS BODY ITS WINGS ARE CARRIED HIGH IN LINE WITH ITS TAIL NOT ONLY CAN I SEE THE BIRDS FULL LENGTH TO JUDGE IT BUT IT ALSO HAS GOOD CRISP DEEP COLOR IN WING PATTEN FOR ME IT WAS THE BIRD OF CHOICE congrats whomever owns this bird you chose a lovely pet place two okay this bird let its self down due to being clipped as not only did it give the bird a struggle to balance i couldn't see how inline its wings were or how they were sitting i do believe though if it had wings it would be sitting in a nice straight line wings carried to its body the color over all is to me nice and even through out the bird with a lovely yf highlighting its head although a bit smudgy its wing patterning was again nice deep color for its variety with out missing patches id quiet happily of taken this happy healthy little fella home congrats to the owner PLACE THREE okay this was the hardest to place as i have issues with birds not actually being in a full viewing position it was a toss up with the yf pied entry 5 and the entry 14 a clear-body but overall i gave it to entry 14 the reasoning behind my final choice was based on that if i could view the whole bird i think her stance and back-line would of had me looking both these birds are young and both seem to hold their wings a slight bit relaxed both have lovely rounded head following down behind their heads the pied seems to have a shrug to it but i know this is due to being very young and overall is a beautiful bird id take home with out questioning this the clear-body on other hand seems to be outside in a warm day holding her wings just slightly from her body and flattening her feathers in to keep a warm breeze out she has a bit of extension in her stance from sitting tall so this was my only reason for placing her before the pied all in all they were very had to separate both of the owners need to be congratulated on a lovely bird gb ill write a small something on all birds latter tonight but as i cant put the pics above each one as im stupid like that i will get splats help with that all birds were lovely their was a grey greeen spangle in someones hand but i felt it was a border on a exibition budgies feather quality and a in nest chick and a very cute birdy with a tedy again to young a pied yf on wire its pattening very faint but was also starting a moult but a nice bird i will go into detail latter when i can get pics above my words
