  1. Yes they are. The Budgerigar Society determines the colours for each year. This year we are using black. http://www.bcv.asn.au/diploma-show-classes-and-ring-colour-guide.html
  2. Bob, most of the exhibition budgerigar breeders have left this forum courtesy of Facebook. Quite sad really as it was quite the buzz some years back. Cheers
  3. Just wondering if any of the members/breeders from years back still look in here or has everyone migrated to Facebook.
  4. Eggs take 18 days to hatch. Sounds like your eggs are not fertile.
  5. Wow, the forum is still here. Amazing. There is a lot of good information on here.
  6. Here is a start. Karen Morgan an Admin on this Facebook Group is the former Admin on here. https://www.facebook.com/groups/BudgiesHelpAndAdvice/
  7. I remember doing my first ever rings. It was scary but then the trick is to get them on when the birds are quite small.
  8. Have seen some exceptional birds at Auctions over the years especially the BRASEA ones but when the dollar gets over $1000 I crawl down in my seat and sit still.

Hey Jimmy. we are currently in the process of building our new retirement home after selling our last house. No birds or even a bird room yet. It might still be a while.
  10. I know what you mean about Facebook but it sure is a growing phenomena. I have two Facebook Groups, not Budgerigar related, and both have over 18,000 members.
  11. Interesting article here about them from one of the worlds best breeders, Ghalib Al-Nasser http://www.al-nasser.co.uk/article2.htm
  12. A photo would be good

Thanks Jimmy. Yes I did get a few birds from him.
  14. Facebook certainly seems to have had an effect on a lot of forums that is for sure. Are the Facebook pages Budgerigar related Jimmy??? If so do you know the names of them
  15. Laura Send an email to wildlife.reception@dpipwe.tas.gov.au and tell them what you want to do and they will send you all the information you need
  16. Funny thing, when I left the forum many of the breeders were not happy with the pet budgie people so perhaps that is why they left. If so it os odd that all the pet budgie people have gone as well. When I get fully into the hobby again I may look at attaching a new forum to my website.
  17. I had a feeling the Govt wouldn't change their stance on it. I forget now how much the last imports cost but several thousand for each bird.

    I'm Back

Been a while for me as I stopped breeding in 2009 when due to some personal reasons I had to sell my birds and aviary. I did maintain my website however at http://bullocksbudgies.com as one day I knew I might return to the hobby. It does not have much information in it at present. I am saddened however as this forum seems to have lost all of it's budding and experienced breeders. I know people come and go in the hobby but there used to be some great people here. I am currently researching new trends in breeding, feeding and housing budgies before I make a comeback. Was saddened the other day to read of Gerald Binks illness and retirement from the hobby. He helped me a lot years ago when I was first learning. I still have a signed copy of his book 'The Challenge'.
  20. I stopped being a regular on this forum some time around 2009 when I had to sell my Aviary and budgerigars. Back then this was a thriving community with many experienced and beginner show budgerigar breeders. From my reading of the forum, they have all gone. What happened?????
  21. Interesting. Is that the name of a Facebook Page as it doesn't come up in a Facebook search. Thanks
  22. Hi Daryl I see the site is quite overdue to be upgraded? Last information on the website is September 2014. Is the club still strong and going well? Do you know the dates for the next Show? Thanks
