  1. I went to the vet today to get him some pain killers all though his beak is a little loose in one corner at his top beak the vet said if i can keep him in and comfortable with pain meds the damage should grow out as he's only young,so he is being crop nedled and given extra doses of calcivet in his food to help it along. He is a gorgeous dominant pied and only a baby.If i had noticed it sooner it wouldn't have happened but his top beak grew long (like a Corella's) into his tongue he is resting and on anti inflammatory meds twice per day, nothing else i can do but keep him warm and comfy while he recovers. Thanks for everyone's input The little guy went to god during the night

  3. Has anyone ever had a baby with a semi detached beak?.I found him today huddled up and he was thin then to my horror i noticed his top beak had grown into the bottom one, while trying to get the top one out it has come loose at the top to the edge near the cere, poor little bugger his mouth was full of blood i crop needled him some ER formula but if he's not going to recover i will have to put him down. Any good information no offence but not speculation and guessing i need to hear from someone who's had this happen before
  4. All pied budgerigars are characterised by having irregular patches of completely clear feathers appearing anywhere in the body, head or wings. These clear feathers are pure white in blue series birds and yellow in birds ofthe green series. Such patches are completely devoid of black melanin pigment. The remainder of the body is co loured normally. The Clearflight Pied has two main characteristics: a clear patch at the nape of the neck and, ideally, completely clear primary flight and long tail feathers. All other features are normal.
  5. I also have a pied that has me stumped too Trish..........maybe we can both get answers here Here's mine the confusing thing is seeing near normal bosy colour markings :)So now theres two puzzles to sort out genetics buffs It looks just like mine.. maybe we will have to take them to the next meeting and get gary or bob to look at them for us.
  6. I bred this little guy this year he came from a dommie cock and a opaline hen,now he doesn't have any markings at all on his body but he does have clear flights, tell me what you think please
  7. I bred this bird in 07,he's actually a lot darker than this, his cheek patch is the same colour as his body (not violet) no one here has seen a slate9Not judges anyway)
  8. Actually i use Baycox as it kills on contact and do it every 2 weeks through this humid weather, but now i also use trimethoprim/sulfadiazine in visually ill birds as it gets rid of the cocci and also clears up any secondary bacterial infections i have had a tub in my cupboard for a while and only realized it's potential when i was reading Rob Marshall's budgerigar book
  9. I dont know if this helps but on the sulfa medication that I use the budgie mix is 3gms to 1L and the poultry is 3gms to 2L I assume this is because poultry drinks more water to body weight than budgerigars , and so doesnt require the higher dose. In the health book that this medication comes with it says to use at a double strenght rate for birds with cocci and in contact birds. I once used it at tripple strenght to save a bird I thought had no chance , it was cold very fluffed up and had lime green droppings , to my surprise it survived and within three days look fine eating on his own and back on the perch. The ingredients in the medication are Sulfadiazine 400mg/g and Trimethoprim 80mg/g . Hope this helps. Thank you This helps very much
  10. after working at xxxxxxxxxxxx as a manager for 1.5 years they budgie on the bag was my idea, as they had printed budgies on t-shirts. the only thing is xxxxxxxxx didnt copyright it because they didnt know whos rights it belonged too. so i thought what the heck-my idea- my bag, if you have noticed though xxxxxxx do "borrow" from other companies, they sold "lone ranger" and "superman" tees in the kids stored which were an EXACT print to the t-shirts in big w which were on sale 2 months previous. they also got sewed for borrowing designs from just jeans lol. also their charity bags DO NOT go to charity, 80 profit to xxxxxx and the rest to pay for the bag. lol cheers guys Jess
  11. Jess, I would like one of your bags,,,can you do a bright blue budgie and a purple one please ? Yeh sure no worries:)
  12. the canvas is unframable as it is 4 cm thick( as its not an al-cheapo)but the edge is painted so it doesnt look infinished. the bags are washable, drycleanable, ironable etc and the picture will NOT come off but do not see the point charging $25 for a thin tote type bag when you could buy one for $2 lol cheers Jess
  13. Hi Guys. My daughter just started into the hobby of painting budgies...but she doesnt know how much to sell her pictures for? If i post one could you roughly tell me how much you could sell them for, or how much you personally would buy it for, if you wanted to buy one? A good prepared canvas costs $10+ and then their is the time, effort and the paint. The following picture is of an Opaline-pied in Gum tree, hanging off branch, dimension W=205mm L=250mm She can also paint other birds, such as lovebirds, cockatiels etc. and custom paint pictures And budgie bags, dimesions 400mm x 400mm $12 each Cheers guys would be appreciated Trish And Jess
  14. Thank you Amy,this is wonderful i just didn't have the time to search the net looking for it. Cheers
