  2. Picked up some new birds today. Love these little guys. <3
  3. Hi All, I was away over the weekend and my have these little fella's grown! Looking good. A1 A1 A2 A2 Handsome little critters aren't they??
  4. Probably having the 'old' pair in contact still isn't a good idea. Most likely they'll continue their relationship 'through the bars' and will never pair with the new birds you have put them with. If you want to persist with re-bonding them, you'll need to separate them completely. Good Luck!
  5. Hi Scala, Welcome to the gang. I just know you'll have an awesome time with budgies and with us! Good luck!
  6. Hi Vari, Welcome to the gang! Love your two gorgeous babies. I have a bird that's just as lazy as your cock. My Mum calls him "Stuffy". Haha. Has yours got a name? Hope you have fun here. Katie
  7. Detected some blue on A1 and am sooo happy!

  8. A2 A1 A1 showing some blue pin feathers!!!! SOOO excited!
  9. Of course you'd want to make sure the paint and everything was safe (and create a smaller door somewhere!!!!) But it LOOKs amazing!
  10. Hi and welcome to the gang! Hope you have an awesome time here.
  11. We brought the budgies inside for the first time today for just a few moments after I'd cleaned out the nest box.
  12. Hi bigfatbudgie, welcome to the show!!!!!! I hope you have a great time here with us.
  13. Thanks I will let everyone know what happens in my little flock...
  14. Even at that age JB you can see a whiter cere for female and a pinker one for the boys. Hen chicks also seem to have more bulbous cere and larger nostrils. Boys have smaller nostrils usually. There are some great examples in the section of sexing budgies on this forum. You are not always right but the more you practice the easier it seems. In my experience the darker skin usually results in normal budgies black barring and the pink will be a lighter bird like a dilute, clear wing, ino etc. Huh! That's cool Kaj. Thanks for going into the effort to find that. I will surely try and practice that. I love learning new things about budgies
  15. Hi, In my experience, a female often doesn't begin to incubate until they have laid all the eggs they are going to. Until then it can seem like they are neglecting their family but the babies still seem to do fine. Hoping that all will work out for you. Katie
  16. Just by looking at when A1 hatched, I would take a guess that at a MAX the last egg would have a week to go. One of them I'm pretty certain is 'past it's due date' - probably unfertilised. The other is a mystery! I'm just going to have to wait it out and see what happens. I'm all prepared to hand raise if I have to but as you said, hopefully not. Thankfully, I do have the time and whatever to commit to that as I'm working at home at the moment. Hopefully one day soon I'll be able to breed more then one pair. At the moment I only have four adult budgies and the other two had no interest at all in each other. Next time. How do you ever have any clue as to their sex at this age?!?! You're amazing! Haha she does look like she is wearing eye-shadow doesn't she! lol Hey, does the colour of their skin give any indication as to what colouring they'll be. Like A1 has rather dark, greyish colouring on his head and wings while A2 is a constant pink. Just wondering.
  17. Hi All, In the past in my averys, I have had budgies and King Quail together for years with absolutely no problem. At the moment I don't have any quail and I have just located some for sale nearby but they are Japanese Quail rather then King Quail. I'm just wondering if there is anyone here who can advise me on the difference and put me at rest as to whether they can live harmoniously with budgies. My avery is equipped with nice quaily hiding places and grass and places to dust-bath ect. I've kept them before I just need to know about the different species. Thank you!
  18. A1 - Is going to be yellow by the looks of things. I was hoping for some blues but... that's okay! A2 - no idea but looking healthy and happy
  19. I heard that if the budgies have a place to go where they can actually hide and can get out of sight of the butcher bird or whatever then they'll be safe.
