i think you are wrong.
A rainbow is a blend of different colours (i think) definately not just a yellow face

Elmo is a Yellowface cinnamon pied. Thought it had to have more than 2 colours to be a Rainbow?

Ooppss, the pic of the violet rainbow isn't avaliable, here is a new link.

The bird on the right (full coloured body greywing violet) is her father (and the mother was a rainbow in cobalt).

whitewing and clearwing are the same thing biggrin.gif The whitewing is only used for blue birds and yellowwing for green birds. Clearwing can be used all over (which is why I think it should be the only term used)

Thanks for the pics javi and for finding the mistake with the link I really wanted to see that violet one.

Me too! Beautiful pictures, javi, and welcome back. smile.gif I love your birds.

I don't mind the link to Rainbow, although he was pied, he also fit the definition of a "rainbow". Like Javi said, the definition of a rainbow is a yellowface opaline whitewing blue. Rainbow was a type two yellowface opaline whitewing blue pied. I think he was also a dilute. Hath had a link to a website that had lots of pictures of rainbows - maybe he will see this and post it again. I think it is difficult to get a "good" one. Most seem to have a grey wash to the wings instead of having them be truly clear. But they are definitely pretty birds no matter what.

PS - I love that picture of Elmo.
