Hi i'm adopting approx 12 new budgies sometime next week and i need to get some cages to quarantine them in,What would be good sizes to house them in? I'm hoping to be able to borrow some cages. My aviary currently holds 8 budgies it's 6ftH x 4ftW x 6ftL would adding 12 more be overcrowding? Thanks Libby

not sure on the cage sizes but congrats on the 12 new Budgies to your flock. We have eleven of them, with four out of quarantine and 7 of them still in it.

Congrat!!!
Why would they release them? Do they not know anything? I know I would prefer to see mine flying in the open rather than a cage but they aren't equiped to deal with it!

So i ended up getting the birds yesterday it ended up being 8 birds, three of which were babies newly fledged. These i have given away apparently the mother was sitting on a new clutch and i have checked and she is due to lay another so i have supplied her with a little box and will see what will happen. http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss94/li...66/SANY0491.jpg http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss94/li...66/SANY0503.jpg

New home and a clutch would be a bit much and looks like it may be a third too so GBs advice is very sound.

Cardboard box ?? Not a good idea to raise babies in either biggrin.gif

Hi, I'm a newbie, I've never been on any sort of chat place so don't know what I'm doing! Just wanted to say I love the pics on your new birds. Congrats on being so fortunate to rescue them and give them a good home. Look forward to seeing how you go intro'ing them to existing flock. I had an original clan from same parents and when I did put in new blood it didn't always go well.

Hi Joy4me the new birds are a pretty tight bunch, but are in sight of the avairy so hopefully when they get introduced in 3 weeks today everything will go smoothly. My budgies in the avairy are pretty laid back and are use to new additions so fingers crossed. And welcome to the forum there are some very knowledgeable people here.
