Natasha 0 Posted May 1, 2018 Member ID: 8,636 Group: Site Members Followers: 0 Topic Count: 1 Topics Per Day: 0.00 Content Count: 1 Content Per Day: 0.00 Reputation: 0 Achievement Points: 15 Solved Content: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 01/05/18 Status: Offline Last Seen: June 12, 2018 Share Posted May 1, 2018 Hi we bought our kids 2 budgies and the female had laid 5 eggs. 2 eggs have hatched and have have healthy baby birds the remaining 3 eggs haven't hatched yet and wondering if I should check them or leave them a little longer the first egg hatched on Anzac Day 25/04 and the second egg hatched 27/04, the female is still sitting on the eggs and caring for the babies I read you can try to hatch the eggs but I don't really want to intervene unless I have too or stress her out to get the 3 eggs and they are no good anyway - any advice why the remaining 3 eggs haven't hatched? Budgies usually lay 2 eggs before they start to incubate them, then after that they lay an egg every second day. If they were all going to hatch they would hatch like this ......First 2 hatch the same day and then you get a chick every second day after that. Some times eggs don't hatch for some reason or were infertile to start with and you end up with some chicks hatching many days apart. The eggs you have left may include some fertile and still viable, I wouldn't interfere at all with trying to hatch eggs, its best handled by an expert and if you meddle to soon the chick will die. So best just let nature take its course and maybe a few days after you have worked out that the last should have hatched you can pitch the eggs out. Link to comment
