Old Mate

Recommended Posts

So Today I went out and bought a new budgie... We're gonna call him "Old Mate" for now but his real name is BCV 3789 (2010).

Thanks, yeah he looks a good bird. He's a 2010 bird but hopefully he'll have another round in him...

He's a nice looking bird, very showy, good luck with him.

Thanks Trefto, he does have the showiness in him. I mean, he's not going to win a show but he is a nice bird and doesn't mind playing up to the camera. Hoping there is something hidden in his DNA that comes out in the breeding.

Well, I guess I didn't have to wait long at all to see your budgie! If only I had read this thread before the other one. :) He looks real nice! Is he a grey? I can't quite tell if his cheek patch is violet or slatey-blue.

I'm a bit confused about him actually, His cheek patch is more a Violet colour and up near where his mask joins his body there is a tinge of blue but then he looks grey all over the body. Soo... I'm assuming he's a grey.

Is his tail blue or black? It might be hard to tell because the blue would be very dark.

I'll have to check tomorrow. If it is dark dark blue what does that mean? Mauve?

Just had a look... I'm pretty sure it's black as well so he must be a grey. and looking at the cheek patches again I would say it's a similar colour to the grey greens so Im fairly confident he is a grey.

He's currently having a moult which I assume is due to the stress of a new home and possibly change of food? Is that right? pretty sure I read that somewhere... Hopefully it won't be to stressful for him and he'll sort himself out soon.

Yes, new home and change of food can put them into a moult.

He's still got a few pin feathers coming through. It's not as big of a moult as I 1st thought but I'm still making sure he's getting some extra food and vitamins.
