Hi all,

These budgies are apparently about 8 or 9 months old. When we got them we thought we were getting 2 males but I think the blue one is a female. Am I right based on cere?

Thanks!

P.S. This is the first post I have made so apologies if I have done something wrong, especially when adding the photo

hi and welcome, the bird on the left is a hen and the one on the right is a male so yes you are correct to think you have a male and female.

Thank you BUDGIE L0V3R. I have some questions about keeping a male and a female so I will have to post those in the appropriate thread.

They are nice. :) Can you get photos of their backs? We love budgie photos here, and back views also tell a lot more about a birds mutations, if there are any.Just going by the top of the male's head, he looks like he might be an opaline.

I wouldn't be surprised if the male is a spangle

Oh, yeah, that too. Or even pied. I see a few areas where some yellow shows a little on his front. It sure would be nice to see the back of the mystery bird. :)
