Hi all,

I am looking to upgrade two of my budgie cages and found this one-

http://www.ebay.com....987af78a&_uhb=1

I was wondering if they would get enough air circulation. They would be inside and are moved depending on weather.

I really like the looks of it and am hoping its all good.

I have also got this one in my sights and was wondering if it was all good or are both just a waste of money-

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jaff

Personally I much better like the second option because the bird can get more light. It would be really hard to put a lamp properly above the first cage. I mean even if you use a clamp light it would mean the only side that has a view has a light in the birds face.

Depends if you mean as a permanent cage/aviary set up or as a breeding cage. Second cage would be my pick for an indoor setup.

Just scrolled down to bottom info on 2nd option and you would have to look closely at size of gap as I think budgies would get through the size described. It is more for parrots I think. First option looks good for breeding but don't know about it as a permanent cage, how many birds were going into each cage?

It will be used as a breeding cage so will only have 2 birds in it.

I am probably leaning towards the second option. Would it be suitable for a permanent cage?

Jaff

Robyn is right the spacing looks wrong when you scroll down they talk about spacing that is more than one half inch on the second cage.

1st look good as a breeding cage 2nd looks to have as stated to larger gap.

I use a similar type of breeding cage but made of timber/chipboard.

I really like your nest box design Paulie. Did you make them yourself?

Hi Jaff, second or either option would be good for breeding cages, providing you could get one with the right spacing for budgies so they didn't escape.

For one pair of breeders yes, as a full time cage there isn't much room for exercise. Do you let birds out for free flying, indoors or do you intend having an aviary or flight for them? Personally I don't like to see birds in small cages without the chance for free flight each day, I guess it's making the best of what we have.

Thank you all for the replies.

I wanted them for full time cages so i have been looking at bigger cages. What do you think of this one?-

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Portable-Bird-Cage-Carrier-90cm-x-76cm-x-46cm-/380689152816?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item58a2d77b30&_uhb=1

Its slightly bigger and has much better bar spacing.

Regards,

Jaff

Hi Jaff,

If you look on page 5 of the same seller's other items about 15 items down there is a cage which looks wider and lower, which is better so they can fly between perch's placed front to back in cage so they don't just shuffle along perch. The item no was JK413 for $59.00. It might be a better option. although the choice is yours.

Width rather than height is the best for exercise, if they are to be in cages rather than an aviary.Good luck with the search.
