Not both split just Bart, hens can't be split for ino and the chick will be a hen.

should have said that both birds must carry the ino gene, but if the hen is not displaying Ino it is not carrying the gene as Nadene stated correctly that A hen cannot be split ino

could the chick be a Df spangle?

I think she meant the hen can't be split ino. but the male can. all ino's produced with this paring will be females only.

So outcomes would be

Normal Hen(could mean dominant pied, Opaline too or is it [sic]) + Split Ino Cock

25% Male normal

25% Male split for ino

25% Female normal

25% Female ino

Would I be correct?

just a note:

"[sic] means that’s really how it appears in the original.”"

Yes. put my head down with pen and paper and worked it out, on paper this should be correct.

I know I am the worst person for genetics BUT If apples is a green dom..pied and can't be split, how would the chick be an ino if BOTH parents have to carry the gene, like hen a visiual ino, cock split? or am I still off the mark?

Both parents don't have to be carrying the gene to get the ino chick but since it is only Bart the chick will be a hen. If you want to produce ino cocks you have to have an ino hen to start with.

My first ino chick came out of a pied hen and a normal blue male (chick didn't make it), then I put him down with a opaline grey hen and he produced 2 lacewing hens.

This is correct, as long as your male is split to ino you are able to breed female ino's and to be able to produce a male ino I believe you need a female ino and also a male split to ino.

Females are unable to be split for ino, they are either a visual ino or not a ino at all.

Thanks

Here is a surprise.

Today I noticed my Creamino Sandy her nestbox has 3 ino babies and 1 chick with black eyes.

So this is a good out come, I wonder what sex these will be.
