I'm new to budgies and to the forum. I've found some really helpful tips on here, so decided to join and say hello! I had a Budgie named Freddie when I was a kid and over the past year or so, I'd been bugging my boyfriend about getting a Budgie. Three weeks ago, on my 30th birthday, I received not one, but two Budgies!! I was stoked, and have been loving them ever since. They're only young, but from what I've read in relation to the cere, I think they're both male (I could be wrong though!!). They're both settling in really well and are getting used to us putting our hands in their cage. I love hearing them chirping and chattering and I love watching them fly around their cage. I might post some pictures of their cage set up later and get some tips and ideas on how I can improve their home. Here is a picture of them, they're adorable!! See you around the forum!! You have two females, not males! They are both beautiful! Whitish blue is a young female or adult female out of breeding condition. Young males have pink or purple ceres and blue with no white when adult. Some mutations keep their pink ceres as adults. There are a lot of helpful members on here, they would be glad to help you with your set up! Welcome! Link to comment

Most beginners have absolutely no idea that budgies need a balanced diet of cereals, veggies and fruits as well as the usual seed mix. Link to comment

Hello and welcome, I second (or third?) that you have two girls Baby girls are often mistaken for males because of the light blue cere which in about... oooh.... 4-6 weeks should start becoming a light nutty colour as they get extremely grumpy about starting their adult moult. Good luck for those times lol. Hormones eh. Link to comment

The birds are very cute! The first budgies I got I thought were a male and a female... I was right, just got it round the wrong way. Haha! It's all a learning curve! Hope you have many happy years with your budgies! Link to comment

We have a wonderful section called the FAQ's that gives you a lot of good ideas on diet, behavior, taming, cages types and more. Link to comment
