Here is some of the other birds in Ken's parrot aviary.......

We have princess parrots in there as well as canaries and gouldian finches and quails.

Two newly fledged baby canaries out today ( their parents had a nest in a shrub in the aviary ).....

We were away for a couple of days through the weekend and we arrived home to Princess Parrot babies..........two last night when we checked and two this morning. Two more eggs look to be fertile and one ( a foster egg ) isnt.....dead in shell looks like.

We have two other Princess Parrot pairs on eggs, plus canaries ( 3 nests ) and gouldian finches on eggs.

Beautiful Princess parrots Kaz I just love the yellow ones, aren't their babies so different from budgie chicks  .

The canaries are they Glostershire (border fancy) canaries, Greg use to breed them until last year. :)

They look like they are with the little hair do. :) When control breeding them you are ment to put one with the crest to one with no crest, I only learnt that because i use to help Greg with his. I love them because they are cute.

But I don't like crested budgies though

Ours are in an open aviary so they choose their own partners. We have had many a crest to crest breeding. Some hatch with double crests...one on top of the head and one on the back of the head :)

The yellow ones are very expensive, but the greens and blues are less so. One of the easiest parrots to tame. They seem naturally bonded to humans. One tame one in an aviary and the others watch and become tame too.

We have

greens and blues breeding too.

Minimum space for a Princess would be a 3 by 3 metre aviary.

Photos of the dad in the nest feeding his babies. Smokey is a very good dad and he will do the majority of the feeding. 5 babies in this nest last time I counted them

That is not how you sex a Princess parrot.

At the age of 2 and a half a male will get whats called SPATULES on the end of a flight feather......like this

DSCF9479.jpg

The Avairy is 4ft x 4ft

Way too small for a Princess parrot and you have two in that space :)

Its not different size-wise to putting a pair of budgies in a cage 12 inches by 12 inches.

18 months plus

Females sometimes breed younger than 18 months ...some males take longer to mature.

I think you need to be more sure of their sexes and you need a much larger space. For your Mum to expect breeding when sexes arent determined and the space they are in is cramped and not suitable for a pair of princesses is expecting way too much
