Seriously when Buffy was alive that's the little dog that the tiger snake killed, she was my egg disposer, I never gave them to her I would just through them on the groung out side and she would come along and cobble them all up dead in shell and all, now the chooks get them but only clear eggs, the dead in shell go in the bin and sometimes out side on the ground because I like to break them open and make sure that have alrady died. You know the other day when I forgot I had that egg down my bra. well that would of been fertile because all hers were any at the same time in another nest an egg hadn't hatch and silly instead of checking when it should of hatched I took it out and sat above the nest for second and I was going to have a good look at it. It looked a bit off colour so I was guessing it was dead. Well forgot about it didn't I until the next morning. :rip: Anyway I broke it open and it would of been alive when I took it out gosh I do some silly things sometimes as it was from another nest and it wasn't due to hatch as it still had a little bit of egg yolk but the chick was frresh looking and pink. SO I KILLED IT THROUGH MY FORGETFULLNESS. It was an lutino hen too. But these things happen Link to comment

I have only tried two methods. The car and the suffocation. I actually preferred the car method, but our new car doesn't do the job any more... too eco friendly! I want to move the snapping necks I think. I my mind its the only instant and humane method of euthanasia that is also safe for my family - don't want to have drugs and poisons around my kids. Putting down birds is a rare thing for me. I don't need to do it very often, maybe a couple times a year *touches wood* Link to comment

Dont know how she did it but she has broken or dislocated her leg right up high at the hip socket joint. No cure for that I know I have to euthanase her, but I cant bring myself to do it right now. She cannot stand. She is currently in a show cage with warm lamp. Link to comment

I am sure she is ready for it. I gathered up at least 20 cull birds to sell and I also discovered a dark green cock in the adults aviary with a tumour....... true to this euthanasia topic I made the decision and euthanased the cock with the tumour. I was able to pull away the bulk of the tumerous growth but the rest had a blood supply to it and he seemed to be in pain so he was sent to God. If I had been able it tie off the tumour with a ligature to make his life easier I would have, but I figured it would regrow. Upon discovery Bulk of it removed Balance of tumour with blood supply Link to comment

Had to be put to sleep. Prior to this the chick was a well fed plump active chick that looked very promising. I removed the father from the breeding cage. The mother will have three chicks to raise alone. The chick ( taken while still alive ) Same chick two days ago The Dad Edited September 23, 2010 by KAZ Link to comment
