How broad are their heads. They look good more pics when feathered please. Looking good Kaz, another week you should see if they are going to good, have to remember they are outcrosses, so you need to put them back to the hens line or send them over for my line .okay say that again splat aboutthe out cross thinggy please i never really did understand where to go from pairring to chick out come to ?????? then It's like a Christmas tree. You have a bird that is outstanding. And you put this bird to everything in your aviary, then you put them young to the other spring like cousin to cousin, etc but then it comes a stage you need to outcross and that's when the christmas tree comes into action. The idea is you go out with an outcross and then the next season you use the young you bred and go back into the line. And youcontinue like this to breed a stud . Edited May 25, 2010 by splat Link to comment

What substrate do you use in your nest boxes? Those photos werent taken in the nestboxes....they were in an icecream tub for the photos. Nestbox materials ? I start out with flaky bran or rolled oats. At the stage of chicks being two weeks onwards the nestbox get a good serving of budgie seed to teach them to eat early. New piks Link to comment

I found the hen attacking her chicks and trying to lay a second clutch.....not attacking severely but enough to be worried for the chicks welfare....the littlest chick who was being plucked was further being attacked by the mother, and she also attacked the DF cock as well pulling some of his flights out as he tried to protect the chicks. I removed the mother and the DF cock s finishing the raising of the babies. Link to comment
