Eldest is like its father but leaning more to a pale violet colour. Second chick is full body colour skyblue so far, third chick yet to determine.

Your greywings look great. I love the blues, and especially the blues that have that rich deep body colour.

Why is it that blues are so hard to photograph and get the colours right ? What I see in the nest is nothing like the blue the photos turn out :)

The intensity of the light in your bird room will alter the colour of the chicks on the camera. Our brains will adjust automatically to light change so we dont notice different colours.

Your babies are stunning!! You have some winners there :o

Here is DAD

brisbanebirds022.jpg

AND BABY

015-11.jpg

I just found out from the breeder of the Dad

The sky cock you bought to my knowledge no dark factor but some of his brothers had the violet neck markings..... his sire was a green greywing and mum was a green opaline greywing I feel he would be split opaline as all his brothers have bred opaline hens but you will get some normal hens. So, does this mean FLUFFY is not female as the white cere indicates ??? ;) and does this also mean that the green of the parent or parents could have been mistaken and was actually a violet green ?

There is definately a violet greywing in that photo - the middle chick. As for the parent - its likely the dad but its hard to say. I have had a violet pop out of a YF2 sky blue and a light grey hen. Neither parent anyone would suspect as being violet or carriers.

I think Dad is a violet skyblue. He is not a normal sky, nor a normal cobalt. I say Violet skyblue.

I love the blue greywings Kaz and I think your birds are wonderful. Well done.
