Im getting a male baby budgie and I have a cage but I dont know what to put in it and how do you tame the bird?

My boyfriend is looking for a baby budgie for me.

I would like a purple/blue budgie so i can call him pebbles if its yellow call him comet. Does anyone have any other good names? And I cant whistle and id really like my budgie to wolf whistle.

They absolutely love it when you sing to them. Do you have a favorite song? Sing to them and they will love you for it. And they are totally non judgmental. They are flock birds and love you as an addition.

The key to training is always approach the bird in a calm manner and try not to get impatient with them....it took my bird about 3 - 4 months before he started talking so don't expect miracles overnight and do expect to work at building trust and just repeating phrases over and over and over and over.

The time you invest in your bird is repaid to you fourfold...they are such lovely little creatures.

I've had my baby boy for 2 months now and he is just the funniest :D

He imitates my son's whistle, he whistles what sounds like the last bit of "pop goes the weazel" (which is what I whistle to him a lot :emoticon112: and he mutters to himself, don't know what he is saying but he is trying.

He is not cuddly and won't sit on your hand or shoulder for very long but he is sooooooo entertaining :)

We have a little playgym for him which is a few metres away from his cage and as soon as you open his cage he is out! Straight over to his gym.

We sit with him and watch him play, he has a few gumnuts lying around (his playgym is on top of a large table that has some of the kids' toys on it) and he jumps on the gumnut, carries it in his beak, drops it, rolls over the top of it :D:lol::lol: just hilarious

So welcome here and yeah, enjoy, I say! ;)
