I am just wondering what everyone on here thought and any ideas to fix it? Shouls I post a picture of droppings also? Thanks, Trish. P.S.I must add that she hardly eats except for a little millet (as Liv suggested) The three components to most droppings. 1. Urine consisting of a crystal urine called urates Tthe clear part and is like water. Sometimes the Urine and Urates will combine and form a cloudy liquid, don't be alarmed if you can't always tell the two areas apart. Urates (the chalky white part) * Green: Liver Disease or Anorexia * Yellow: Liver Disease or Anorexia Edited November 17, 2008 by Trish Link to comment

I'll try again. I have taken pics of the poop on the newspaper but to further investigate I just now went and put clear paper (no print) on the bottom for a clearer look. Here are the pics of poop on newspaper and the bird in question: Physically the bird appears to be healthy: Link to comment

I'd give her some raspberry cordial in her water (for energy) Cover her cage completely and keep all her food at perch level and at the spot where she sits the most. If she starts to get fluffed add a lamp for warmth. have you a current photo of her? how is her breast bone feeling? Link to comment

Her health isn't very good - The poo is the indicator their - I agree with Liv .. Feel her chest. I will be able to feel a long bone in the middle of it ... ( indicates under weight bird) Green poo with yellow urine is an internal problem. Best to check with your avain vet on this one mate ... how long has she been like this for ?? (If the liver is damaged, the organism excretes biles what leads to the dis colouration of the poo and urine. Liver problems can be caused by bacteria or viruses) Link to comment

I can feel her breast bone but have never felt one before so I dont know if this is an indication. The photo above was taken on Saturday, do you need a more recent one? I am in Western Victoria, 6.5 hours away from Melbourne or Adelaide, where the nearest Avian vet would be. Maybe taking her back to the pet shop might be an idea as he can let the breeder know the problem, maybe it has arisen in their aviary or the reason they got rid of her? Link to comment

Try everything you can to get her to eat. If you cant get her to an avian vet, talk to the petshop as they will have the details of the breeder and might help you get in touch with them and they might be able to help you. Link to comment

For sure as there is more white then black .... But i think that there is also an underlaying issue too okay rule out options ... What have you given her in the last week ? Has she been wormed yet? What are you feeding her seed wise? Edited November 17, 2008 by Neat Link to comment

I have no red cordial and no canary seed but will do that first thing in the morning. The shops here shut at 7.30pm (in the sticks). I will go back to the pet shop 45 mins away, should I bring her (probably unduly stress her though). Ill get handrearing mix and a crop needle if they have it and some canary seed and red cordial (the pure stuff). Ill try to get the breeders details if they are forthcoming with it. Also there are a couple of Vets in that town maybe one of them is in the know with birds, I know there are no Avain vets but maybe one of them has a special interest and is more knowledgeable than the rest? God knows I need to find someone close!okay rule out options ...What have you given her in the last week ?Has she been wormed yet? What are you feeding her seed wise?I have given her budgie seed, soaked sunflower seed, millet spray and water. I have not had a chance to worm her because as soon as I noticed the not eating and sloppy poo I decided to wait. Link to comment

I know your vet is far so even a regular vet. Good luck. Edited November 17, 2008 by Elly Link to comment

I went to the pet shop and explained what had been happening but he said he does not keep records of where his birds come from. He said if it died he would replace it! While I was there I checked the cage where she came from. I noticed a cock bird almost identical to her with a green ring on (she has orange/gold) and then some baby budgies that looked like her and him. I am wondering if she is depressed as she has been taken away from her partner and babies? I asked the pet shop owner but he was unsure? I was half tempted to buy him for her but wanted to check with you guys first? I asked him about if there were any Avian vets and he said no, just the normal vets so I left it at that! I bought some canary seed and Bickfords Rasperry cordial, some mesh ball toys for her and headed home. I slowly and gently offered her the Canary seed which she scoffed for a couple of seconds and then stopped. I made up the cordial to my tastes so I hope this is O.K.? I'll keep updating and hope she improves, there appears to be only one loose poop today and the rest appear normal. Look forward to hearing from you all, Trish x Link to comment

It may be harbouring an illness as the petshops just put each batch of birds from all different places in together...a cocktail of bugs and germs. Within the time it take to incubate a disease and show symptoms the bird is with its new owner and sick or not eating. Edited November 18, 2008 by KAZ Link to comment
