The tiels love nothing more than ripping toys to pieces, and the budgies had finished the paper shredder i made them for xmas, so i had a bit of toy making to do to keep those beaks busy! I made a refillable toy out of a veggie skewer, beads, and Shredders. I made a couple of big paper shredders, one for the aviary budgies and one for the tiels. I used paper strips ripped off some paper till rolls i bought for toy making and hadn't thought of a good use for. They were good for this toy cause the paper was all curly. And i made a few patty pan toys I fully expect these toys to be gone in a few days. :hap: Link to comment

Are most craft materials safe to use with budgies. I get my bits and pieces for bird toys from www.myparrotshop.com - their prices on toy making parts are pretty good. I usually make sure i have wiffle balls, quick links and cotton rope and i'm set to go. The pony beads i got in bulk off eBay, and i salvage a lot of bits and pieces from old bird toys which my guys have wrecked. I think i spent about $25 on toy parts several months ago and i'm only just due for a refill. I've made HEAPS of toys with that $25 and my birds enjoy them a lot more than store bought toys. :hap: Link to comment
