Gotta keep the dream alive mate. :)

ME- I think it would be quite impressive to see a whiteface-green dominant pied :D (with the white belly)

We all know how much Kaz Loves this thread- just thought we'd keep it running for her

(sorry Kaz)

She will be cursing my return by weeks end

Its not that I love this thread "Pie" ................I just cannot fathom WHY people still believe there are pink budgies out there and are so gullible to believe all the internet pictures which have EXPLANATIONS to them or they choose to believe stories told that have no PROOF or photos :hooray:

You wont offend anyone here LBB :nest: Theres a small minority that believe in the possibility of the pink budgie, another smaller minority that believe every pink budgie scam out there and most of the rest of us that are a little more "grounded". :D

That comment sounds a bit high and mighty to me. Are you a genetics expert? Prove that pink is not possible, either through hybrid breeding or selective breeding?

Cranberry,O high & mighty, you come on here, about Pink Budgies,

You are told there is non & not likely to be.But if you think you can

breed them,I would pop off now & make a start,I don't knowhow old

you are but I think time is running out, there has't been another colour

hatched in a very long time. But there just might be a chance, for you

to produce it.But you will need more then a handfull of birds to do it. :budgiedance:

pink budgies are not natural.pink budgies have not been able to been artifisially created either so far. but why why why do we need pink budgies. is the natural unique genetics not enough? do we now need artifisual budgies. to be honest as i stated before it is cruel and unnessiary to create a pink budgie, as i am sure it will not stop there. they will end up like prodotypes and nothing unique will be left.

yes a pink budgie does sound amazing, but unfortunatly it is not natually geneticly possible so far. if it was it would be unique but hybrid species and colouring/ injecting eggs with die is taking the fun out of it,

i understand others veiws are different but just sharing my own. to me it sounds like we are going round and round in circles with the PINK BUDGIE. And it is making me feel dizy. haha

Read back through all such topics Cranberry ( including this one ) and our genetics experts have already come in and said it is not possible. As far as high amd mighty goes, confidence on what you say can sometimes be seen that way by "some "

You prove it is possible...........I have better things to do with breeding my budgies.
*shrug* okay. I personally have not seen the bird, but he has been a geneticist and a show breeder for his whole lifetime, so I think he would know what he is talking about. You can choose to believe what you want to believe JimmyBanks.Once a geneticist always a geneticist. You can retire from activley participating but you are always genticist. Does he have a sprinkling of letters after his name? Being a geneticist is one thing but one must also know how colour is produced in budgies as well. He obviously does not know how colour is produced or he would not be claiming to have a 'pink' budgie.Like Kaz says....photos will prove it. Many times over the years 'pink' budgies have claimed to be bred. All so far have turned out to be fake. If a 'pink' budgie, by some absolute micracle, were to be bred the owner would have a most valuable bird indeed. Since the mechanisim required for the budgie to produce pink was rendered redundant through thousands of years of evolution it would take a miracle for it to be activated once again. Too many changes in the feather structure would need to be in place for it to occour. Any change in any organisim is not simply a matter of turning on or off genes as one would a light bulb.
