  1. Id wait till they are a year old before introducing the nest. They will breed young but all the breeders i knew waited 1year for maturity
  2. Queensland isabella? Nice looking mutation. Not sure on your other one tho
  3. Move out and at a good inconvenient distance!
  4. Do the aussie natives a favour and build or buy a mynah trap. That way you will be removing an introduced pest
  5. Wouldnt be listening to that breeder when it comes to violets!! You need violet factor
  6. Congrats guys. Myself i had a terrible breeding season, lost a heap of chicks. 2 nests gave me birds, 1 was a pet/show breeding so not any good to keep and the other i got a few, kept 3 and lost the 2 best ones of that in the last heatwave. Suspected cocci. The remaing one is terrible, runt and just nothing of worth. Oh well there is next year!
  7. Coccidiosis is residual in the ground right? I got a pup with it once and had to bleach the entire backyard to kill it finally!
  8. Kaz do the cheek patches show violet if they carry it and more blue if they dont?
  9. Kaz do the cheek patches show violet if they carry it and more blue if they dont?
  10. Fan with a bucket of water in front of it helps a bit. I even put a towel in so the water slowly leeches out the bucket into the fans air it is blowing. I pulled all my pairs the day before the heatwave. Good timing i guess
  11. Haha Renee my boy not 2 yet has twice lost my rings. First time in the shed and 2nd time the whole backyard and in the house! We have a big yard too. Found most tho, lucky my daughter has good eyes!

  13. Im with dave too. Thats too exaggerated imo. Having said that its interesting and the work involved would be huuuuuuge Almost looks like he has a tribal warriors mask on.
  14. Its a bad photo she lookssort of olive green. Im guessing the yf is what iz causing the confusion? Two of the chicks have also had violet in their feathers too
  15. Something occured to me yesterday about the top pair. They have never thrown a green bird. Only greys and blues. I thought the mum was green but ive never had a green bird. Last lot of young were grey dom pied. Blue normal (wings r sort of diluted tho??) a skyblue pied Was considering putting him to a lutino hen who is having dramas breefing,he is a good cock with his hens.
  16. Thanka harry. Im not sure it is human scent that does it. Im not sure if it is a scent they release but they def loose their effectiveness over time. Even taking a trap out for 6 months i find that it doesnt work near as good.
  17. Mate of mine had some true genuine ones. They saved them up north a few years ago when 1000s of them were falling out the sky. Remember it being on the news ? Not long after that i did see a bit of an increase in bb's being sold so i wonder if that had Any relevance
